Since 1938, National Donut Day is celebrated the first Friday in June, as declared by President Eisenhower, to honor the members of The Salvation Army who served donuts and other provisions to soldiers during WWI. Here in Chattanooga, we honor the spirit of this tradition by partnering with Tasty Donuts to deliver over 600 donuts to public service officials. The first-annual Donut Day Games will serve as an extension of this event and further enable The Salvation Army in its mission to “Do the Most Good in Chattanooga."
