The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga Expecting to Feed More Than 1,000 Hungry Neighbors This Week!
"We know people have been seriously affected by the economy over the past few years, yet we are grateful to those generous friends in our community who have provided faithful support for struggling families and individuals," says Major Al Newsome, Area Commander of The Salvation Army. "But unfortunately, the needs continue to present themselves, and the amount of public support is just not keeping up. We still have hundreds of Angels needing to be adopted and with the cold temperatures hitting so soon, folks are needing space heaters and monetary assistance for utility bills."
All are welcome to attend the Festival, on Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, at The Salvation Army located at 800 McCallie Avenue . About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 130 years in the United States. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar spent is used to carry out those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.
