The Chattanooga Salvation Army announced a $15,000 grant award from Comcast Communications presented at the Salvation Army's Women and Family Shelter and Men's Transitional Shelter on Wednesday, January 13, 2009 at 1:15 pm at 800 McCallie Avenue. The grant was awarded for a Learning & Resource Center for the families and women in the new shelter program. The construction of the Learning & Resource Center will allow a dedicated location in the shelter for study and personal growth. Besides the need for safe shelter, the homeless women and families have need of the education, life-skills and work-skills that will allow them to qualify for jobs and find permanent housing.
