Children's Challenge: Week 36
7–13 September 2015
Well, Paul certainly had some great things to say in the letter that he wrote to the Ephesians. I wonder if you might have missed the part about how much God really loves you (Ephesians 3:17–19) or where he gave advice to children and their parents (Ephesians 6:1–4); you might want to go back and have a look.
After writing the letter to the Ephesians, Paul then wrote a letter to the church at Philippi. He wanted to say thanks, encourage them and help them feel strong, and talk to them a lot about JOY. Don't miss what Paul has to say about joy in Philippians 4:4. I wonder what that sort of joy might look like for you.
Paul certainly knew how to help guide followers of Jesus with advice on how to live a holy life. This passage reminds us about not getting a big head and about considering others to be more important than ourselves. Read over the verses and see what stands out for you – hint: verses 3-5 are pretty important.
• You might like to write out these short verses, decorate the paper and hang it up somewhere to remind you of Paul’s important instructions, or
• Think of a way that you could quietly do something nice for someone without being asked and not looking for any praise – a good deed. Perhaps a job around the house that you wouldn’t normally help with, leaving an encouraging note for a friend, sharing something delicious that you have made, or helping someone else tidy up.
