Do you remember the day you were saved?
O what a wonderful, wonderful day, Day I will never forget!
After I’d wandered in darkness away, Jesus my Saviour I met!
O what a tender, compassionate friend, He met the need of my heart!
Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling, He made all the darkness depart.

The American John Peterson, after serving as a pilot in the US Air Force in the Second World War, studied music and became a staff musician for the radio station of the Moody Bible Institute. He composed more than 1,000 gospel songs, cantatas and musicals.
While attending the morning service at a Bible conference, he heard an elderly man give his testimony, saying that when he came to Christ ‘Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.’ Peterson noted the phrase and later wrote the song for today.
Let’s join our voices together as we sing the final verse and refrain – and allow God’s glory to fill our souls!
Now I’ve a hope that will surely endure After the passing of time,
I have a future in Heaven for sure, there in those mansions sublime.
And it’s because of that wonderful day, When at the cross I believed;
Riches eternal and blessings supernal From his precious hand I received.
